BETHANY — Rates for renting a picnic shelter at city parks could increase and cleaning deposits could be required, city officials said. The issue will be discussed when the city council meets tonight.
The Bethany parks committee has recommended new shelter rates to cover the cost of cleaning up after parties and events, committee Chairman Tom Ray said.
"I don't think this is too unreasonable. It is for everyone's own good,” Ray said. "It is costing us more to pick up after large groups than the rental rates.”
Ray said some large groups have left a lot of trash behind at park shelters.
