STILLWATER — Perched beside the picnic lunch beside parking space 320, the sign read: "Welcome Husker Football Families." It signaled a pregame party thrown outside Boone Pickens Stadium by Nebraska quarterback Zac Taylor's parents.
Sherwood and Julie Taylor made the short drive from Norman, then welcomed several dozen fans clad mostly in bright Husker red. OSU fans mingled, as well, as the event bled into several adjacent parking spaces.
And a half-dozen of Zac Taylor's former Norman High School classmates wore red Nebraska jerseys with his No. 13.
How much red was there? Twice, OSU security officials checked to make sure the Taylors had the proper parking permit.
They did. The prime location came courtesy of family friend Rusty Halverson, a longtime OSU season-ticket holder.
