EDMOND — Work is almost done on several construction projects in the Edmond school district.

Associate Superintendent Bret Towne said security improvements at all three of the district’s high schools were completed in the last week of October. The work included new fencing, gatehouses for the school parking lots and other additions.

Work was also completed on the addition to Chisholm Elementary, the district’s new bus shed, and the media center at Summit Middle School.

Construction crews continue to work on the front of North High School. Towne said the front facade has been removed and utility lines have been installed as part of a $7.3 million addition to the school that includes expanding the school’s media center and providing additional classrooms and offices.

Plans call for the school’s library to be moved over the winter break to the drama room so that the school’s media room can continue to function.

Work also continues on the renovation of Central Middle School, new tennis courts at Summit, Cimarron, Cheyenne and Sequoyah middle schools and the additions to Russell Dougherty, Sunset and Orvis Risner elementary schools.
