ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska officials have found a solution that will allow Pioneer Home residents to get low-cost medicines from the Veterans Administration.

The vets are entitled to the medicines but they have been denied in recent months.

State health officials say the affected veterans will get a refund for the prescriptions they have been buying through the Pioneer Homes pharmacy. The home quit accepting medicine from the VA last April for veterans who need help from staff to take their pills. The move affected about a dozen vets at the Anchorage Pioneers' Home and perhaps a few others at the Palmer home.
