Tulsa lawyer says he deposited his clients’ settlements

TULSA — A Tulsa attorney pleaded guilty Friday to federal mail-fraud and tax-evasion charges.

Jeffrey Lee Parker, 42, was charged Oct. 2 by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with taking money that should have gone to his clients. He waived his right to have the case presented to a federal grand jury Oct. 9.

The prosecution said Parker was entitled to a portion of the proceeds from settlements of his clients’ cases, but he would take excessive amounts and then evade clients’ questions when they asked about the status of their cases.
