Report: Thunder to hire Cleveland Cavaliers executive
The Oklahoma City Thunder will add a front office executive from Cleveland to help fill the loss of former Assistant General Manager Rich Cho, according to a report.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Thursday that the Thunder will hire Mike Winger from the Cavs to fulfill some of Cho's former duties. Winger served as legal counsel and a salary cap advisor in Cleveland.
The Oklahoman could not confirm the report Thursday, and it's unclear exactly what title Winger would assume with the Thunder. The Thunder, however, still has one assistant general manager on staff in Troy Weaver after Cho accepted the GM job in Portland.
Cho handled contract negotiations, salary cap and Collective Bargaining Agreement matters, player contracts and all player personnel issues last season with the Thunder. Cho also oversaw operations for the Thunder-owned Tulsa 66ers of the NBA D-League.
