Book signing planned
NORMAN — A presentation, book signing and reception with rabbi Brad Hirschfield will be from 5 to 9 p.m. April 8 in Beaird Lounge in Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave.

The event is presented by the University of Oklahoma's Religious Studies Outreach Program and the United Ministry Center.

Hirschfield, president of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, will discuss his new book, "You Don't Have to Be Wrong for Me to Be Right: Finding Faith Without Fanaticism,” at 7 p.m.

Health and wellness day set
Chapel Hill United Methodist Church will host "High on Health,” a free public health and wellness day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 at 2717 W Hefner Road.

The event includes free health screenings and shoulder massages, booths with free information, experts to answer health-related questions and a series of 45-minute workshops on health-related topics. Workshop topics include grandparents raising grandchildren, planning nutrition and healthy meals, CPR, healthy living as a diabetic, depression and grief support from Scripture.

An area for children will also be featured, with a puppet performance, clowns, dental presentation and safety tips from fire and police officials.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute will take blood donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The organization also will provide a free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening for prostate cancer for the first 10 men 46 and older or black men 41 and older who request it. No blood donation is necessary.

Following the free screenings, additional PSA screening will be offered for $20 for those who donate blood and $25 for those who do not.
