CASADY ALUMNI MEET IN DALLAS
The fete: There was a reception for Casady School alumni in the home of Alyson and Ben Woodard in Dallas.

Special guests: Head of School Chris Bright, Associate Head of School David Gorham, Director of Institutional Advancement Aaron James and Director of Alumni Relations Betty Jane Garrett.

Other activities: Casady School was a participant in the Southwest Preparatory Conference sporting events held at these schools: St. Mark’s, Hockaday, Greenhill and Episcopal School of Dallas while Casady alumni and school officials were in Dallas.

PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY
Engaged: Marion Wilkins Garrett and David Wilkin Parke III. The wedding is next year in Ireland.

Party and place: Linda and Steve Garrett were hosts at a reception at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club to celebrate the engagement. They are the bride’s parents.

Seen: Special guests at the party were Julie and David Parke II, parents of the groom; Betty Thorne, Austin, Texas, grandmother of the groom, and Judge James Paul Garrett, grandfather of the bride.

IN NEW YORK CITY
Gladney gala: A group of people was in New York City last month for the "All You Need Is Love” Gladney Gala at the Waldorf-Astoria and the Gladney Cup golf tournament at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y., and Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Among the 700 there were Susan and Eric Eckman, Marion and Craig Story, Courtney Briggs, Tim Melton, Lisa Elder.

Sightseeing: Some of the group brought their children for the event and also were in the outdoor audience of the "Today Show” and theater shows of "Bye Bye Birdie” and "Mary Poppins.”

Celebrity sighting: Susan Eckman and children, Irene and Charlie, were in the concierge’s office at the hotel, when the Dalai Lama came in. He saw Irene was holding pashmina scarves that she and her mother had just purchased, and he blessed them.

Gladney mission: These events support the Gladney Center for Adoption’s efforts to improve the lives of children in foster care and orphanages and efforts to find permanent homes for children around the world.

PRIVATE CONCERT
Occasion: The Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma had a private concert and reception at JRB Art at The Elms gallery.

Program: Daniel Blumenthal played the piano and chamber musicians Chad Burrow, Lisa Harvey-Reed, Gregory Lee, Carl Rath and Jonathan Ruck accompanied him. Blumenthal is a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium.

Buffet table: Lots of international cheeses, pastries with mushrooms, shrimp, country pate, cookies and a large bouquet of peach-colored roses and stargazer lilies.

People: Jeannette and Dick Sias, Margo Nesbitt, Joel Levine, Rich and Andy Taylor, Cheryl and Sterling Baker, Deborah McAuliffe Senner, Jeannie and Gil Haas, Andy Peterson, Ruth and Terry Shyer, Karen and Bruce Livingston, Lyndon Whitmire, Steve Rimmer, John Williams and Robert Thompson.

PI BETA PHI REUNION
Dinner, brunch: The University of Oklahoma’s 1959 pledge class met for dinner in the home of Kris and Bill Frankfurt and for brunch in the home of Jessie Ann and Virge Wallentine to celebrate the group’s 50th reunion.

Football: Many of the 27 attendees and spouses went to the OU-Kansas State football game.

In the group: Marcia Hoenig Seeley, Francie and Ernie Day, Louise and Dave Mueller, Sissy and Jeff Austin, Cynthia Ledbetter, Marilyn Balyeat, Phyllis Cornell, Karen Luke, Susie Nelson, Paula Stover, Ginny Dick, Linda Maxey, Jerry Metcalfe and Dawn Rutledge.
