Injured Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford gave a live telephone interview to the ESPN pregame show "College Gameday” on Saturday morning. Although the projection for his return is two to four weeks, Bradford reminded viewers that it could be slightly shorter or much longer.

"Everyone I talk to, there’s really not a certain timeline for as soon as I’ll be back,” Bradford said. "There’s been so many different numbers. I think the main thing is I have to get healthy before I can play again.”

Bradford spoke earlier in the week with Eli Manning, who suffered the same injury and played again in 10 days before leading the New York Giants to the Super Bowl. However, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith suffered a grade-three separation and the initial diagnosis was no surgery would be needed. He didn’t play again in the 2007 season and underwent surgery in the offseason.

Bradford did say he could throw a ball if he wanted to, but doing so would be extremely painful.

Fear the ’stache
Landry Jones’ national television debut featured a cameo appearance that drew mixed reviews: his mustache. At least one group of students showed their support for the facial hair on Saturday, sporting fake mustaches and "Fear the ’Stache” shirts. Jones completed 18 of his 32 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns, all to Ryan Broyles.

Owens out
Sophomore receiver Jameel Owens did not dress for the game. Owens had missed practice earlier in the week. Rumors of his transfer leaked earlier in the week, but Owens’ family said on Friday he has no plans to do so. Owens was still on the team as of Saturday.

Bengal payday
Idaho State received a $500,000 check from the University of Oklahoma for its troubles. Last week, the Bengals traveled to Phoenix, where they were beaten 50-3 by Arizona State.

Freshman impact
Freshman defensive back Marcus Trice blocked a punt in the third quarter, juking Idaho State’s Dustin Tew and jumping to bat the kick away with his right hand. The snap on the play was low, giving Trice’s speed-rush time to reach Idaho State’s Jon Vanderwielen’s punt. Vanderwielen recovered the ball, and Trice also made the tackle on the play. Early in the fourth quarter, freshman linebacker Ronnell Lewis tackled Clint Knickrehm in the end zone for a safety to put the Sooners up 50-0.

Brandon booed
A week ago, Cory Brandon drew five flags in the Sooners’ 14-13 loss to Brigham Young. On Saturday, he was booed during pregame lineup introductions. Brandon’s most costly penalty against the Cougars was a false start on third-and-nine with just under two minutes to play. The penalty put the Sooners into a third-and-14, where a Jones incompletion forced Tress Way to kick a 54-yard field goal instead of a 49-yarder.

Although he was introduced as a starter, Brandon began the game on the bench, replaced by Tyler Evans at right guard.

Another sellout
Despite opening up their 2009 home slate in the rain with an FCS opponent and without their Heisman winner under center, the Sooners sold out their 63rd consecutive game at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Official attendance was a full house at 84,749, despite a few empty seats at kickoff, presumably from fans who either stayed at home or under their tailgate tents.

Shaking it up
Stoops and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson promised changes on the offensive line all week, and on Saturday, they delivered them. For their opening possession, the Sooners trotted out Trent Williams, Evans, Ben Habern, Jarvis Jones and Stephen Good.

You people that want to boo a player just need to ask yourself, "Would I want people booing my child?" Remember, these players have parents, family, and friends at the game that have warm feelings about them. Now, that being said, I have no problem booing terrible calls from the officials; these guys get paid and they know it 'comes with the territory'.

There was a small level of booing for Brandon - I'm sure the same people that booed Idaho State as they entered. I can't imagine booing a team that agrees to show up to be slaughtered. I don't really know why people boo opposing teams in general, its like, ok you want them to not be here? I don't get it.
Anyways, I don't think college athletes should be booed, unless they are behaving like an idiot (i.e. Oregon's Blount).

Should we never boo? Or just boo paid players, or other teams players? Somebody fill me in on the proper protocol. I don't believe in booing players period but I was sure cursing that son of a gun out a couple of Saturdays ago from my Living Room.
eudell, Virginia Beach - Sep 14, 2009 at 10:54 am
I don't understant the comments about the coaching was the reason for the false starts. In Jr. High ball you learn not to false start.
BigDaddy, Choctaw - Sep 14, 2009 at 10:13 am
I'm not a fan of booing, other than general boos for certain opponents like OSU or Texas... that's part of the fun. As a general rule, I only boo for those that get paid to do what they do (i.e. pros) and only for things that they can control... like dirty plays, or excessive "in your face" stuff. Of course, I've been heard yelling "TURN THE PAGE, WILSON!" toward the press box when he forgets that part of his job is to be creative in his play calling...

I haeard fans booing. I did not realize it was for brandon. That is no class to boo the young man. GO SOONERS !!!
Brian, Owasso - Sep 13, 2009 at 4:44 pm
Cory may have been booed...i won't deny it, but i didn't hear a thing...and i have talked to several others across the NEZ, West/East Side, including the student section and no one else heard the boos.....
Just chalk it up to mr. David Ubben's HYPE to create something that is newsworthy. if 5 out of 85,000 fans boo a kid, does it make newsworthy...thank you David, you continue in the mass generalization of all things OU. maybe you can come sit next to me in section 234 at the next game and report how the sooner fans in front of me went to the bathroom 3 times and report how "sooner fans" have overactive bladders.

This reporters hasty generalizations are as liable as the few jokers who actually booed CB....

boomer sooner!

I'd say he was booed by the hillbillies that usually take advantage of early-season games by grabbing cheap tickets so they can dream of having attended OU and earning a degree. A High School degree that is...

I didn't hear any boos for Brandon! Nor when the OSU score was shown. I did hear a few boos when the Idaho State team came into the stadium, which I hate! Wish we would clap for the opposing team and show better sportsmanship.
Janet, Oklahoma City - Sep 13, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Booing Brandon was wrong. That said, don't blame the coaches for his mental errors. He has played significant time in the past. He hasn't had these issues. The guy just needs to remain focused. The coaches did their part by not starting him.

I was upset at the play of the offensive line last week and for their play during the first and goal last night. However, it is the coaches fault if the line is not disciplined enough to prevent false starts and cannot block the running backs two yards into the endzone. If they are continuing to make these mistakes take them out. The coaches finally did that last night and play improved. All of the linemen are good or they would not be at OU but they need to prove it. That is the coaches' responsibility to get the best from the athletes. Idado State is no Texas but a good win none the less and a good scrimmage to get the problems ironed out.
William, Fairfield - Sep 13, 2009 at 11:56 am
I was there and didn't hear any boos. Must have been in a small section.
Jason, Oklahoma City - Sep 13, 2009 at 10:27 am
shameful. don't boo the student-athletes. boo the coaches that put them out there completely unprepared.
Jeremy, Lexington Park - Sep 13, 2009 at 10:16 am
I was there, he was booed when they announced the Offensive starters. It wasn't everybody, but it was heard. It was pretty lame of those that did it.

Booing Brandon was a bad thing and uncalled for. Boo Kevin Wilson, that is called for.
Steve, Ketchum - Sep 13, 2009 at 9:13 am
I was there, didn't boo, and didn't here any boos. I don't even remember them announcing the starters (like they used to do with the photo of the guy on the video board).
Louis Friend, Norman - Sep 13, 2009 at 8:53 am
Those who go to our games and boo are worse than Aggies! Please don't call yourselves Sooner fans. When you go out in public, wear anything but red, especially crimson red.
Jerry, Atlanta - Sep 13, 2009 at 7:30 am
I don't recall any boos during the pre game, i think it was after he had a false start.
Jordan, Oklahoma City - Sep 13, 2009 at 1:48 am
Cory Brandon was booed? That is really low class stuff there.
