OU football notebook: Venables has high regards for Mangino
Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables worked with Kansas coach Mark Mangino at OU and previously at Kansas State.

Through stints on staffs together, a powerful respect was formed.

"A great friend of mine – of all of us,” Venables said. "As good a coach as he is, he’s a great friend and terrific father and great husband. He’s a guy I have tremendous respect for.
