Mark, I would love if OU and TX played in the NC game, but I don't know if ESPN will let that happen. They'll start talking up USC pretty soon and influence the polls. But there is still a long way to go before that. OU and TX have some more serious tests ahead.

I can't believe that USC jumped over OU in the coaches poll. What!!

Wouldn't it be a hoot if OU ended up playing Texas again for the national championship? It could happen, if OU jumps up to the 2 spot in the national polls and stays there, and Texas wins out, including the Big 12 championship...

Texas earned the #1 spot. Now, their problem will be holding on to it.

OSU deserves all congratulations for a great game. They won't be taking anyone by surprise now. The bedlam game should be great. Until Saturday, I honestly thought MIssouri was the thrd best team in the Big Twelve.

I agree with those who say the loss of Ryan Reynolds puts a real chink in OU's defensive armor. Mack Brown planned well, and he also got lucky.

OSU is in an unaccustomed position. Until a team has a tradition of being ranked, they seem to get lost by admiring themselves into a coma. Next thing they know they wake up and say 'Baylor beat us?' The toughest thing Gundy and staff have to do now is to keep these kids's head screwed on straight. Championship ball involves alot more than beating a bunch of cupcakes and then playing one excellent game. Remember, Missouri had number 1 within sight and obviously thought OSU would rollover for them. Daniels said he still hasn't figured out what happened. Maybe he was looking ahead to Texas. OSU finds itself in the same situation with Baylor up next and Texas following. Don't think more highly of yourselves than you should or you will wake up just like OU did Saturday afternoon.

It's a quality loss that OU has. Florida and USC should be behind the Cowboys.

OU isn't out of it yet. There is alot of football left. If we win out there is great chance we could play for a big 12 championship and the NC.

Ryan, you are an embarassment, as usual. You need to be rooting for us to win out the rest of the year, until the end. If we beat Texas and Tech, that leaves the door open for you to knock us off for the Big 12 south at Bedlam. I'll make this simple. OU needs to root for OSU until late November. The same is true for OSU fans, we need to root OU on until Bedlam. Its in everyone's best interest. Ryan, you make your fellow OU fans sick.

I think the AP poll got it right on. Janet, you really thinks OSU should be #4?? From 17?? I am wearing an OSU Hat and Shirt as I type this and I think you are out of your mind. Texas Tech #3??? Because they beat UMass and another 1-AA team? Texas Tech is the biggest fraud in the top 10. Tulsa still getting screwed. This is a great year for Oklahoma College Football and I can't wait for next weekend. We should all be enjoying it, but don't lose your mind and start saying OSU should be #4 yet. Let them keep winning and it will take care of itself.

OU fans who pull for OSU make me sick. That is only allowed if it serves a greater purpose such as knocking Texas out of the championship game.

Oklahoma State should have been number 4 with Texas Tech number 3. Those teams are undefeated. OU will not go the rest of the season undefeated, but neither will OSU.

I bet the 'Bama folks are hacked off; they must have been thinking they'd be No. 1 after OU lost. These polls are worthless anyway. Do you really think those guys voting do much research, especially on special teams? No, they go with the teams who have big-name players such as Chase Daniels, Sam Bradford . . . I think OU got a break by not dropping further. I thought the lack of a ground game, plus the special teams disaster would hurt the Sooners, but it didn't. As far as OSU, they should be happy because the reputation of the offense clearly and the improvement of the defense gave voters the basis for moving them over Boise State, Utah and the others. I also hate to see Tulsa getting shafted in the polls; it deserves better. As Oklahomans -- regardless of the team we follow -- we should be thrilled with the success of our programs. It would sure be nice if OU and OSU would win out and set up a huge Bedlam matchup that would really put the spotlight on our state. Maybe then we could get ESPN to come with College GameDay and maybe we would be on national TV in a prime time slot.

OU is not a Top 10 team with Ryan Reynolds out. His replacement looked lost and OU never had an answer for the middle of the field. The broadcast showed a stat of OU's defense before Reynolds left the game and after he left the game which showed how the defense suffered after he left. Congrats to OSU! Awesome win and nice to see crybaby Daniels put in his place by another Oklahoma school.

Still a lot of season left. OU has lost to TX before and ended up winning the Big 12 and going to a BCS game. Could easily happen again if say Mizzou gets mad and goes in and beats UT, a couple injuries and then Texas Tech beats UT...OU wins out and there you go!

"The Emporor's New Clothes"

Riddle:

Why is Bob Stoops like a Wall Street CEO?

Answer: Because he still gets paid millions for poor performance!!!!

Isn't he the highest paid state employee in OK?

Last 5 Bowl Games: 1-4
Last 4 vs. Texas: 1-3
BCS Championship games: 1-2

The AP got it right. Neither Florida or USC should be ranked ahead of us. As far as OSU, they definitely deserve a top 10 ranking, and will have the chance to pass OU in the rankings. Putting OU all the way down at #14 is ridiculous, and the person that wrote that has no credibility whatsoever.

Just seen the new rankings - OU is 4th? I know Bradford had a great game but a loss is a loss. I certainly did not expect that, nor do most OU fans - and certainly TT, OSU,So.Cal, etc. Uh, Im not much of a forecaster but Missouri may tear Texas a good one if Texas is not at its very best and Kansas is no cake walk for OU either. Should be interesting.

I thought OSU would be higher and OU would be a little lower, but I disagree with Jo. OU lost close and late against the current number 1 team in the country. I would put them about 6 or 7.

OSU definetly is getting recognition now but that being said and this from an OSU alum and an avid ou hater...they (ou) are a strong top 10 team and deserve to be in the top 5....Texas is good but OU cost themselves the game in the end..mostly poor defensive reads and a few questionable play calling throughout the game...

Firstly just wanted to thank the OU fans posting positive comments on our articles. It's refreshing to see the true OU fans instead of the bandwagoneers that usually troll our forums...that said, I'm still lobbying for an 'ignore user' button for certain repeat offenders...it only 'hides' the comment for the individual user who's logged in...the rest of the world will see the troll's post. The Tulsa World's tech department has apparently figured out how to add this feature. Are they that much smarter that the NEWSOK's? Now that OU is undoubtedly going to get a fair share of idiotic 'your team sucks' posts, maybe NEWSOK will find a way to copy/paste the
'ignore user' code into their website. GO Pokes, beat Baylor!

O-State deserves a higher ranking. And that comes from a big OU fan. Oklahoma is not a top ten team, much less, top five. Special teams and defense stink!! Stoops, you gotta fix that defense. There will be no national championship, or BCS bowl win until you do. Good job Cowboys. You look real good this year. Love the heart you showed in Missouri. BOOMER SOONER!!!

Here's a Top 10 from a fan that doesn't wear Crimson colored glass's. 1-Alabama, 2-Texas,
3-Penn State, 4-Florida, 5-So. Cal., 6-BYU, 7-LSU, 8-Okla. State, 9-Texas Tech., 10-Missouri
11-Georgia, 12-Utah, 13-Boise State, 14-Oklahoma, 15-Ohio State. Oklahoma is not a Top
Ten Team, and Saturdays performance proved that, they still can't consistently win on the
road, and they still under-perform when playing top 10 teams, with Missouri, last year, being
the lone exception in 4 years. Don't OU fans deserve more. They shell out a lot of bucks on
game day and especially on the road to follow those want-a-be's.

Sweet. Honestly thought we would be more where the coaches have us (#10) but I am not complaining. All said, though, Tulsa is getting hosed. They should be 15-20 range, not "receiving votes." Why the he&% is Notre Dame receiving votes? Whomever gave them the a 25th place vote should have their priviledge revoked.
