NORMAN — Oklahoma State star Rickie Fowler says he is "100 percent" sure he will turn pro after playing for the United States in the Walker Cup in September.

"If it wasn't for the Walker Cup, I'd probably be turning earlier," Fowler said after finishing his second round at the U.S. Amateur Public Links. "It's one of the most fun things I've done with golf."
Fowler was expanding on a story in Golfweek in which he said he was "strongly leaning" toward going pro.
Fowler was named a first-team All-American during both of his seasons at Oklahoma State, earning the Phil Mickelson Award in 2008 as the nation's top freshman. He competed in the past two U.S. Opens, making the cut and finishing 60th in 2008 at Torrey Pines.
"It would be great to play in the Masters," Fowler said of the honor traditionally given to the winner of the Publinks. "But I'd kind of like to possibly earn that as a professional. I think it'd be pretty cool that way."
Fowler, a native of Murrieta, Calif., shot 72 in his second stroke play qualifying round, despite five-putting for a quadruple bogey on the par-4 eighth hole. The tournament's match play portion begins Wednesday.
