For the first time in 20 years, Oklahoma State is in the top 10.

The Cowboys were voted No. 8 in The Associated Press poll released Sunday, a day after their 28-23 upset of then-No. 3 Missouri. OSU is ranked 10th in the USA Today coaches’ poll.

The No. 8 AP ranking is OSU’s highest since reaching No. 7 on Nov. 23, 1985. And it caps a three-week climb by the Cowboys from unranked to the top 10.

"I’m excited for our players,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said Sunday. "They worked hard and had to earn everything they’ve gotten.”

Missouri dropped to No. 11 and faces Texas, the nation’s new No. 1, Saturday.

OSU plays host to Baylor this week, then visits Texas in what now has the potential to be a meeting of top 10 teams. OSU and Texas have never played when both were ranked in the top 10.

unbelievable - the Baylor game isn't televised in Tulsa. During basketball season, if a game isn't televised by FSN or ESPN - one of the local channels will pick it up. Why don't they do the same during football season?

Even in a win you guys still can't talk about anything other than your OU obsession. Learn from this, it's called "being there", like in the phrase, "act like you've been there". You're supposed to talk about your next foe and all things Poke-like, not keep going back to OU smack. Stop acting like "new money" wanting to buy the biggest trailer you can find. Congrats, and good luck competing with the big boys in the big 12 south.

Wow where are all the OU fans who like to talk trash about OSU now? Licking their longhorn wounds?

Hey, Carl from Norman, where's that loud mouth now?!
Just as we thought -- the loud mouthed cowards always disappear when they've been proven wrong.
Good NOT to hear from you, Carl. Idiot.

"If Texas can jump in front of 4 teams (including over an undefeated Alabama) by defeating the #1 team, so can OSU " They didn't jump four teams! 3 of those teams lost so there was no "jumping". Only team they jumped was Alabama who in their last game struggled to beat Kentucky at home. Texas deserved to jump Bama since they did beat the previous number 1

"PSU should wind up in the NC game with no trouble at all. Did you see how they annihilated Wisconsin, on the road, a team that tOSU had to struggle to beat?" Horrible arguement. So Penn State must be insanely better than USC right since Penn State kill Oregon State and then they beat USC. And how can USC go undefeated when they already loss?

I really hate to look past Baylor so I'll keep it quick. If OSU beats Texas in two weeks, they will leap frog USC. Maybe not Penn State, but definitely USC. If Texas can jump in front of 4 teams (including over an undefeated Alabama) by defeating the #1 team, so can OSU (not for the #1 spot, though).

First, I think USC will definitely go undefeated. Second, Penn State will totally CRUSH Michigan, which has nothing this year, and they will beat Ohio State even more easily that USC did. PSU should wind up in the NC game with no trouble at all. Did you see how they annihilated Wisconsin, on the road, a team that tOSU had to struggle to beat? The only question is who will they wind up playing. I hope it will be a Big 12 team, but could be FL or USC or Bama. It depends on how much the Big 12 teams beat up on each other from here on.

I wouldn't count on USC going undefeated the rest of the season. The way the PAC 10 looks, Arizona will probably beat them.

I see Penn State possible losing 2 games to Michigan and Ohio State. USC schedule strength plus a loss to unranked Oregon State will not get them into the game. Plus Mark Sanchez is not playing well here lately.

I wouldn't go as far as to rank the Cowboys No. 1 going into Bedlam. I don't see USC or Penn State losing the rest of the season, and as we all know, USC is a media darling. If they win, God only knows what the voters will do. And I wouldn't merit anyone jumping an undefeated Penn State team unless OSU or Texas win out.

I thought OSU was No. 15 in that game. Anyway, I'm the one who came up with that scenario, and I did it not to knock OSU, but to explain a situation in which OU could finish the season No. 1 and not go to the Big 12 title.

If he'd have read my other post today, I gave OSU a lot of credit and I'm proud of its victory. It's a good day to be an Okie. And, if anyone saw me in person, I did pretict an OSU victory in Austin two weeks from now. It would be good for some posters to read deeper into posts than think, simply because I invented a scenario where OU wins out, doesn't mean I'm trashing OSU or treating OU like God. Notice that I didn't PREDICT it, I only CREATED A SCENARIO.

Congrats all Cowboy fans. I am a Sooner fan and was disappointed after the better lost to Texas, yes Texas won, but I still think OU is the better team, they just came out flat. Take things one game at a time, beat your opponent this week, then go take care of Texas. I enjoyed watching the OSU game saturday night on tv, I too have to eat some crow, I always knew your offense could score with Mizzou, but I did not think your defense could slow them down. I am glad I was wrong. Great job, keep it up. If OSU can go undefeated through October and November, Bedlam will be as big as it was when Gundy was QB and Sanders was RB. The Sooner may have to face the #1 Cowboys on the 29th of November wouldnt that be something. Go Sooners, but keep it up Cowboys, you look great

Jacob, OSU was 14th in the AP going into the game in Norman. The number 9 comes from OSU's point total in that game, 52-9 =]

It was rather nice, I would say, to open the Sunday paper and see that OSU was the biggest story of the college game day.

I thought OSU was ranked 9th when we played OU in 2003 in Norman? Am I incorrect on that?

Well it seems there are a few OU fans with some class. The mullet wearing jerks are nowhere to be seen these days. Thank you to the OU fans who do have class and respect. I must admit, it is nice to read an OSU story and not have to go through any of their (the morons) garbage. Go Pokes!!

Congrats on the big win...don't worry I'll continue my trolling once we get closer to Bedlam. A great victory on the road, again Congrats!

I'm an OSU fan, and it sucks that OU had to lose. However, Sooner fans, fret not. We will roll into Austin 7-0 and upset the #1 team in the nation (if they beat Mizzou).

I was really disappointed with the OU loss but the disappointment was gone and forgotten seeing what the Pokes did to Booger Boy and Mizzou. Loved it! Then the Gators detroyed Les and the boys from Baton Rouge. What a great way to end the day. Then Dallas loses yesterday; wooho!! Go O-State....

Where's Carl, the Norman idiot, today? Usually that cockroach is scurrying about searching for nasty comments to knock OSU. I suppose Carl, you're licking your wounded little ego and won't come out to face the music.
It's just as well. Jerks like Carl deserve to be "outted".
Sadly, Carl, like many of his kind, will emerge when it's safe again, because Carl is not a man -- he's a big mouthed coward.
Take that, Carl from Norman.

Have you read some of the OU posts? They are already coming up with scenarios where they play Texas for the national title. They have already won out the rest of the season. We should just go deer hunting and not waste time on playing bedlam.

Naw - Gundy is in way over his head. You can tell by looking at the sideline. He's lost. No emotion. He should have never gotten the job at OSU. I'm just repeating things that were said less than a year ago.

I think Gundy is the better OC than Fedora. Since Gundy took over from Fedora last December we've seen a better offense, much better!!! Gundy is one the most underrated OC in the country, starting from Les Miles era. He should've getting more credit for the offense explosion...
