Design group plans opening
Funnel Design Group will celebrate its grand opening at 17 NW 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The building was built in 1995 for Jackson Speedometer and was one of a handful of buildings built with recovery funding when the garage’s original home was destroyed by the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The garage was renovated into offices a few years ago.
Event to teach strategies
Karen Wicker, senior vice president of Schnake Turnbo Frank, will speak at the Association for Women in Communications meeting 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at
Will Rogers Theatre, 4322 N Western. Wicker will speak about strategic planning and hold a hands-on "training” session on how to use strategic planning in a wide range of situations. Cost for the lunchtime event is $20 for members, $23 for guests and $15 for students. To attend the event, contact

Media strategy focus of talk
Kristie Aylett, chairwoman-elect of the
Public Relations Society of America six-state southwest district, will discuss how to develop a media strategy that produces results at the
Oklahoma City chapter’s next meeting, 11:30 a.m. July 15 at Nonna’s — 1 Mickey Mantle Drive. Aylett tailors media relations programs to help organizations accomplish their goals for The KARD Group PR/Marketing. Summit to host Nobel winner
James J. Heckman, a 2000 Nobel Prize winner in economic sciences, will be among the speakers at the Oklahoma Economic Summit on Early Childhood Investment to be July 27, at the
Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City. The event will focus on the dramatic economic and social effect of investing in children during their formative years. The program is from 11:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Skirvin’s Grand Ballroom. Speakers will include nationally renowned experts
