Oklahomans up for military promotions
Published: November 19, 2008
President George W. Bush is nominating two Oklahomans for military promotions.
U.S. Air Force Maj. Gens. Harry Wyatt III and Loren Reno are nominated for promotion to lieutenant general. Congress must confirm the promotions. Wyatt is adjutant general for the Oklahoma Air National Guard. If confirmed, he will be director of the Air National Guard and be assigned to the Pentagon. He could not be reached for comment. "This is a great honor for Gen. Wyatt and a great honor for Oklahoma,” Gov. Brad Henry said. "I’ve always said we had the best adjutant general in the country, and the latest announcement is certainly confirmation of that. ... He’s served with the highest honor and distinction and will be a hard act to follow.” Reno is commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Air Force Material Command at Tinker Air Force Base. If confirmed, he will be deputy chief of staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support for the Air Force at the Pentagon. In a statement, Reno said: "I am grateful for the privilege of leading the men and women of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and equally thankful for the strong support and friendship I have received from the wonderful people of Oklahoma. ... I look forward to this opportunity to continue serving our great nation.”
