Oklahoma Scene: OU wrestling team wins Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic

The No. 18 OU wrestling team squeezed past last year’s NCAA runner-up Ohio State by half a point to win its 11th straight Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic tournament title Saturday in Brockport, N.Y.

OSU, UCO place wrestlers at Central Missouri
Oklahoma State and Central Oklahoma placed 11 wrestlers at the Central Missouri Open tournament Saturday.
For the Cowboys, Ladd Rupp and Jared Rosholt finished first, followed by Tyler Dorrel in fourth place and Alex Munoz in sixth.
For the Bronchos, Seth Johnson and Dustin Finn placed second, followed by Casey Rowell in third, Jarrett Edison in fourth, Ed Jackson and Derrick Adkins in fifth and Trison Graham in sixth.
OU volleyball sweeps Texas Tech
The Oklahoma volleyball team (18-8, 11-6) swept the Red Raiders (2-23, 0-16) in three sets — 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 — Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.
Sophomore Suzy Boulavsky led the Sooners offensively with 16 kills.
OSU, OU CROSS COUNTRY FINISH 1, 2
The Oklahoma State men’s cross country team won its fifth straight Midwest Region championship in Springfield, Mo. OU finished in second place. OSU captured the ninth- through-14th-best times, led by senior David Chirchir.
