Oklahoma Pet Tales: This dog is family’s friend, fur-ever

Everybody just loves this picture. Our dog, Jessie, is an 8-year-old boxer. My husband, Roger, is an avid deer hunter. Anywhere he goes with his four-wheeler, Jessie wants to go with him. But Jessie just hates it when he goes hunting without her. She gets so upset. When he comes in from hunting, she gets mad.

Jessie is always sniffing his clothes when he gets home, so we decided she needed his hat and then maybe she would leave his deer things alone.

When Jessie was younger, Roger taught her to go to a corner and he would get on the other side of the room and tell her to stay. Then, he’d go "ding, ding” and she’d run into the ring and they’d start playing. But she waited for him to go "ding, ding!”

She will do anything we tell her to do. Jessie sat quietly while we took this picture. She is our only dog, and she’s like our child. She goes everywhere with Roger. She goes in his truck. She goes on the boat and sits up at the front, like she’s king of the boat.
