Oklahoma City Zoo draws 12,000 with free admission

About 12,000 people visited the Oklahoma City Zoo for free Friday in celebration of a city sales tax that funds major projects at the zoo.

The sales tax appreciation day is always a draw for visitors, zoo spokeswoman Tara Henson said.

But this year the day was especially popular because of a break in triple-digit temperatures and because the tax anniversary fell on a Friday.
