The five-day summit hosted by the Great Plains Technology Center and Keystone Center for Education begins Monday.

Students will discuss how to best address Oklahoma’s energy needs over the next 50 years. They will issue a report on their findings at 2 p.m. Friday.

There also will be a two-day session for teachers, starting Thursday, dealing with how to introduce the topic of global climate change with their students.

OSU economists look at recovery
The "2010 Oklahoma Economic Outlook Conference: What’s the Forecast?” presented by the Oklahoma State University Center for Applied Economic Research is from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Moore Norman Career Tech, South Penn Campus at 13301 S Pennsylvania Ave.

OSU economists Russell Evans and Kyle Dean will be joined by industry experts in a discussion of national economic conditions and the prospects for economic recovery in Oklahoma. Sessions will focus on applied economic issues important to successful planning for communities and organizations across the state, highlighted by the release of the official 2010 Oklahoma forecast.

Cost is $65, including materials and continental breakfast. Register online at cepd.okstate.edu. For information, call (866) 678-3933.

Business training available
The U.S. Small Business Administration next year will expand Emerging 200, or e200, an executive-level training initiative for small-business owners, in 2010. The initiative will continue in 10 cities that have participated in the past, including Oklahoma City, and expand into 12 communities with an emphasis on American Indian business owners.

Since its inception, e200 has identified business owners who show a high potential for growth in underserved markets — and provided them with the training, networking, resources and motivation required to expand operations and create jobs.

The nine-month training includes 100 hours of classroom time.

For more information on the program, visit sba.gov or call 609-8000.
