Best Buy to open in Moore
MOORE — A new Best Buy store will open just in time for holiday shopping.

A grand opening for the new store, off Interstate 35 in Moore, is scheduled for Nov. 14. The 30,000 square foot retail operation will carry electronics, appliances and home theater systems and employ about 100 people.

The new store is located 5 miles south of an existing Best Buy at Crossroads Mall in Oklahoma City.

Professional Forum set at the Skirvin
More than 270 corporate real estate executives, economic developers and others attending the Industrial Asset Management Professional Forum at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel today through Wednesday will see Oklahoma City showcased with a tour of Tinker Air Force Base and events with Mayor Mick Cornett and Gov. Brad Henry.

Cornett will speak at the Sunday welcome dinner. Henry will speak at a Monday luncheon. The theme is "Managing Global Real Estate: Navigating a New Professional and Economic Landscape.”

The Industrial Asset Management Council is headquartered in suburban Atlanta and has 508 members in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Metro Builders teams with Jetta
EDMONDJetta Corp., maker of whirlpool bathtubs and other bath and kitchen products, and Tulsa-based appliance distributor Metro Builders Supply have entered a joint venture to display and sell Jetta's bathtub product line.

Metro Builders Supply has nine locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. Stores in Tulsa, Wichita, Kan., and Springfield, Mo., will start displaying 20 to 30 bathtubs in each location in late September. Jetta's recently acquired line of WaterDance Baths, including the Soaking Art models seen on HBTV, will also be on display.

"Metro's store traffic on a daily basis is incredible, and they have long been a regional powerhouse in appliance distribution to the builder and remodel segments,” said Matt Peterson, Jetta president.

Guy Minnix, president of Metro Builders Supply, said the joint venture "allows Metro to expand our current product range outside of appliances to support our growth, yet keeps us within our core competency of supplying kitchen and bath products to the builder-remodel industry.”

Oklahaven hosts origami workshop
Oklahaven Children's Chiropractic Center hosted an origami workshop Thursday to celebrate its 46th anniversary.

The non-profit center works to promote wellness of children using the body's recuperative power and a natural, drug-free way of life. Oklahaven specializes in treating very sick and neurologically-damaged children.

State ironworker set to compete
John Harrison, from the Oklahoma City area and a member of Ironworkers Local No. 48, will join 69 other participants from union ironworker locals throughout the United States and Canada in Philadelphia at the International Ironworker Apprenticeship Competition Sept. 20-22.

This bi-annual competition is open to any ironworker apprentice.
