Rascal Flatts earned three Country Music Television Awards nominations, leading a field of numerous Oklahomans who will vie for prizes at next month’s awards show.

The fan-voted nominations for the CMT Awards were announced Thursday by the cable network. The awards show, hosted by “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus and her country singer father Billy Ray Cyrus, will be broadcast live April 14 from the Curb Event Center at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.
Eight nominees for the video of the year prize, including Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire, were announced Thursday. The final nominees will be announced at the beginning of the live telecast. Fans will be able to participate in the final voting during the show.
Rascal Flatts, which includes guitarist Joe Don Rooney of Picher, is nominated for video of the year for “Take Me There.” The trio is nominated twice in the group video of the year category, for “Take Me There” and “Stand.”
Underwood, who hails from Checotah, earned a video of the year nomination for “Wasted.” She is nominated in female video of the year for “So Small,” for which Christian Kane, who was raised in Norman, got a supporting character of the year nomination.
McEntire, who was raised in Chockie, is nominated with pop star Kelly Clarkson for video of the year and collaborative video of the year for their duet “Because of You.”
Norman resident Toby Keith received nominations for male video and comedy video of the year for “High Maintenance Woman.”
Also nominated in the comedy video category is Ada native Blake Shelton for “The More I Drink.”
Brooks & Dunn, which includes Tulsan Ronnie Dunn, is nominated for duo video of the year for “Proud of the House We Built.”
Garth Brooks, who lives near Owasso with wife Trisha Yearwood, garnered a nomination for collaborative video for his duet of “Workin’ for a Livin’” with rocker Huey Lewis.
Tulsa native and country comedian Rodney Carrington nabbed a nomination for supporting character of the year for his appearance in Trace Adkins’ “I Got My Game On.”
Brad Paisley’s video “Online” leads the pack with four nominations: male video, comedy video, supporting character (for Jason Alexander) and video of the year.
Oklahoma artists also helped their videos’ directors earn nominations for director of the year:
Trey Fanjoy, whose work includes Yearwood’s “Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love”; Miranda Lambert’s “Famous in a Small Town”; and Taylor Swift’s “Our Song.”
Michael Salomon, whose work includes Keith’s “High Maintenance Woman” and “Love Me if You Can,” and Adkins’ “I Got My Game On.”
Shaun Silva, whose work includes Rascal Flatts’ “Take Me There”; Kenny Chesney’s “Don’t Blink”; and Sugarland’s “Stay.”
Roman White, whose work includes McEntire and Clarkson’s “Because of You”; Underwood’s “So Small”; and Sara Evans’ “As If.”
