The Monday Night Football crew this week debated the more impressive streak: Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive baseball games played or Brett Favre's current 225 consecutive quarterback starts.

The Monday Nighters picked Favre. I vote for Ripken.
It's a decent argument, either way. Baseball plays 10 times the games that football plays in a year, and if you multiply by 10 the NFL list, you see that Favre's streak is as dominant as Ripken's.
Favre's 225 starts are followed by Peyton Manning's 132, Ron Jaworski's 116 and Joe Ferguson's 107. Ripken's 2,632 straight games are followed by Lou Gehrig's 2,130; Everett Scott's 1,307 and Steve Garvey's 1,207.
It is no small thing for a quarterback to survive the brutal NFL for 14 years, answering the call every week.
But still I go with Ripken. A minor injury cannot derail Favre. He has a week to recover.
Ripken did not have such a cushion. A jammed finger, a pulled hamstring, a sore arm. All could have put Ripken on the bench, since the Orioles played every day.
And yet for 16 seasons, 162 times a year, Ripken was in the lineup every day.
Harris' game hasn't changed in the NFL Former... 10/05/2006 Tommie Harris is dominating the NFL the way he dominated college football in his Oklahoma days. And yes, OU fans, that's a good thing for Harris' Chicago...
