Ex-president enters plea
LIMA, Peru — Former President Alberto Fujimori, who already faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison, pleaded guilty on Monday to authorizing illegal wiretaps and bribes of politicians, journalists and businessmen. Fujimori appeared to sleep during chief prosecutor Jose Pelaez’s accusation, but stirred at the close of the session.

Crash leads to bee stings

Turkey — A van carrying beehives crashed into a truck on Monday, and huge swarms of bees broke free and stung the injured and rescue workers at the scene. In the end, about 20 people were taken to hospitals, six of them injured in the crash and the rest rescue workers stung by the bees.
