Guthrie schools to stagger dismissal times

GUTHRIE — School administrators in Guthrie have announced that dismissal times for elementary schools will be staggered after Labor Day to help with traffic problems.

Cotteral Elementary School will dismiss at 3 p.m., and Central Elementary School will dismiss at 3:05 p.m. Fogarty Elementary School will dismiss at 3:10 p.m. and Guthrie Upper Elementary School will remain at 3:15 p.m. The change will start Tuesday when students return to classes.

According to a memo from Superintendent Terry Simpson, the goal is to help parents who may have students in more than one elementary school. The change will not affect bus routes, the memo states.

Parents will be notified by notes, the school messenger system and the district's Web site, www.guthrie.k12.ok.us.
