GUTHRIE — Voters will decide in December whether to support a bond issue for the renovation of Guthrie Junior High School.

During a Tuesday meeting, school board members approved a Dec. 9 election for a $9 million bond issue that calls for the renovation of Guthrie Junior High, addition of security systems at the junior high and Guthrie High School, construction of four junior high classrooms and technology equipment for the district.

The bond issue is divided into three propositions, and bonds will be sold at intervals so that property taxes should not increase, said Superintendent Terry Simpson.

The district will sell $5.5 million in bonds first, and the remainder a year after that if the bond issue passes, he said.
