A few predictions from Kirk Herbstreit, "College GameDay” commentator and analyst on ABC’s Saturday night college football games:

How would you handicap the Heisman Trophy race among the top three quarterbacks?

1. Colt McCoy because of the players he has returning and because he has not been able to win it yet.

2. Sam Bradford is breaking in four new offensive linemen and his top two receivers.

3. Tim Tebow is at No. 3 only because we have set such high expectations for him. Even last year in a year he won the national title, people were comparing him to what he did the year before when he won the Heisman, when he put up ridiculous numbers on a team that had two or three losses.

Will Florida repeat as national champions?

I think they will be challenged more than people expect. I think they will win the SEC. I think they will beat Alabama in Atlanta and I think they will end up playing Texas in the national title (game).

Do you agree with fellow ESPN analyst Andre Ware that the Sooners will lose four games?

I can’t imagine them losing four games. The Sooners return enough around (Sam) Bradford offensively even though they have some concerns on the offensive line and at receiver. Their defense will be one of the best in the country. They have some tough games, but I can’t imagine them losing more than a game or two tops.

If our special teams are improved like the coaches say and our defense plays up to their capability, OU has a good chance to be a better football team than last year. Our special teams stunk, our defense wasn't very good and we still made it to the national title game. I look for big things this year.

man yall can stop pushin the panic button. byu is replacin their entire o-line now that their only returnin starter broke his hand. miami sucks offensively, so unless we have a major meltdown & 5 turnovers, we'll win that game by 3 TD's. same goes for nebraska. texass is in for a beat down similar to the 2000 season. the only game i'm remotely concerned abOUt is the pokes, but the jury is still OUt on their defense & I don't see them winnin in Norman, cu zOUr defense is much improved. We'll be in pasadena, mark it down! Redemption tOUr 2009 is abOUt to begin. My reservatons are set.

While there are four games on the schedule that concern me, I don't see OU losing all four of them (Miami, Texas, Nebraska and OSU). In fact, I believe that OU can beat all four of them. I really think OU is better than all of them but know that on a given day strange things can happen. And since Nebraska and OSU have not beaten OU recently, the incentive is all the more greater for them to play harder. OU should have beaten Texas last year, but then earned advancement to the Big XII title game when Texas stubbed their toe against TTU. I think Bradford will lead OU over McCoy and TU this Oct. Miami is an unknown force and always dangerous, even when on the skids. OU will not lose four games.
