The city will host a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 20 S Littler Ave. to discuss projects included in the Community Development Block Grant Action Plan. Awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the $399,858 grant is to be spent between Oct. 1, 2008, to Sept. 30, 2009.

Programs include owner-occupied housing rehabilitation, homebuyer assistance, hazardous tree removal and code compliance assistance.

Agencies receiving assistance are UR Special Ministries, Mobile Meals, Metro Fair Housing, Share-A-Fare taxi service and the Hope Center, which offers free bus tickets, back-to-school supplies and medical services.

Each year the city prepares a plan for HUD. The programs benefit about 3,000 residents a year, officials said.
