Golf club to host family fun night
EDMOND — Family Fun Night will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at KickingBird Golf Club, 1600 E Danforth Road.

Families can play nine holes for $5 for greens fees and $5 for a cart. Beverages and hot dogs also will be sold.

Four more Family Fun Nights are scheduled this summer — June 21, July 26, Aug. 16 and Sept. 13.

Jazz Lab sets concert Friday
EDMOND — The Jazz Company featuring Brian Gorrell and Shane Conaway will perform this week at University of Central Oklahoma Jazz Lab.

The concert will be at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday. Cost is $7, and food and beverages from Hideaway Pizza will be sold.

Duathlon event Sunday at park
EDMOND — The Tornado Alley Formula 1 Duathlon will be at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at J.L. Mitch Park, 1501 W Covell Road.

The event will feature a two-mile run and a 10-mile bike ride. Cost is $30 to $35.

Wakeboarders invited to compete
GUTHRIE — The Rail Round Up competition will be at 5:30 p.m. May 24 at the Central Oklahoma Wakeboarding Center.

Cost is $50 and includes the competition fee and an all-day ride pass. Cost is $20 for season ticket holders. Admission is free for spectators.

The wakeboarding center is at 901 E Camp Drive, south of Guthrie and east of Interstate 35 near the Seward Road exit.

12 Deer Creek students win golf championship
Twelve Deer Creek High School students have won the academic all-state championship for golf teams.

The boys and girls teams from the school won the honor. Members of the girl's team are: Holly Berrigan, Whitney Stracke, Megan Caudill, Lauren Wright and Lauryn Schack.

Boys team members are: Paul Hobbs, Garrett Francis, Hunter Kaestner, Braden Zelnicek and Ian Davis.

Haskell Elementary School to give awards to students
Charles Haskell Elementary School teachers and administrators will recognize students' hard work this month.

The first-grade awards assembly is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the school, 1701 NW 150 and the second-grade awards assembly will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Fifth-grade students will have a graduation ceremony at 9:30 a.m. May 27.

Guthrie administrators host tour, meeting at new center
Guthrie Public School administrators will host an informational meeting about the Freshman Center at Guthrie High School May 22.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the high school, 200 Crooks Drive.

The high school will have a wing for ninth-grade students when school starts again in August. During the meeting, administrators will give an overview of how the center will operate and answer questions. Parents can tour the facility after the meeting.
