Judge to decide charge in death
It will be up to an Oklahoma County judge to decide whether Brittinie Kay Bullock faces a murder or manslaughter charge in the Aug. 10 death of a 71-year-old Choctaw woman. Bullock was under the influence of PCP when she crashed into several cars on Kelley Avenue between NE 23 and NE 30, authorities said. The final collision toppled a minivan, sending Phyllis Murray through the windshield to her death. Three others inside the van were seriously injured. Prosecutors charged Bullock, 24, with second-degree murder, alleging she killed Murray while committing a felony by leaving the scene of another crash seconds earlier. Defense attorney Michael Johnson argued Friday that crime had nothing to with Murray’s death. Special Judge Fred Doak agreed that first-degree manslaughter was the appropriate charge, but prosecutors intend to appeal.
