Concert Review: AC/DC at the Ford Center

Crowd: 12,000 estimated.

Early highlight: The venerable rockers surely need no introduction, but that didn’t stop AC/DC from opening the show with a colorful animated video of a runaway train culminating in pyrotechnics flaring, a huge locomotive bursting through the back of the stage and the Aussie band thundering out their latest smash "Rock N Roll Train.”

Reviewer’s take: The rock gods proved they have lost none of their potency as they blasted through one mammoth hit after another, including crowd favorites "Back in Black,” "Thunderstruck” and "Hells Bells.” Time and age has not diminished the band’s showmanship, with singer Brian Johnson growling out lyrics like a man possessed and iconic guitarist Angus Young racing through riffs like, as Johnson put it, he had "the devil in his fingers.”

First time I'd seen 'em since 20 years ago, and I wasn't disappointed. I think I'm still deaf from the cannons, though. lol

This was a concert with a nice combo of hits and songs the band wanted to play. Very enjoyable. The loud stage levels sounded better than the PA arrays. The Ford Center seems to not be even an average sounding venue with those hanging arrays. The opening act was tight but they lack decent material. After watching another big time band come to town recently and do the model runway walk while performing it was nice to see a band have a reason and rhythm to its stage movements on a bigger stage set up. It's hard to think of a better, active touring Rock 'n' Roll band.

We were three rows from the concert stage and AC/DC was incredible. The guys thundered! Best hard rock concert we have attended this decade and was even better than AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip Tour concert we attended in 2001. The crowd size looked around 14-15,000 and the concert was worth every penny. I'm really proud of these guys for giving us one helluva show. We also liked all the new improvements at the Ford Center, especially the new seats we checked out in the 100's section.
