A four-faced Oklahoma Centennial clock placed on the northwest edge of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum building off NW 6 will help first-time visitors find the memorial, the memorial's executive director said Friday.

"It's not really on the grounds of the memorial,” said Kari Watkins, executive director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

The clock, which will be dedicated Monday, is west of the museum building's north entrance and north of the west entrance.

The clock will have lettering on it identifying the nearby memorial.

"What we had long wanted was a marker on that side of the street to show the memorial” for visitors driving along NW 6, Watkins said.

The old-fashioned clock, similar to those common during Oklahoma's 1907 statehood, will serve as "a symbol of time moving forward and marching onward,” she said.

SandRidge Energy and Hobby Lobby paid for the $25,000 clock, said Blake Wade, executive director of the Oklahoma Centennial Commission. No memorial funds were used.

The centennial clock will be dedicated at 4 p.m. Monday near NW 6 and Harvey Avenue.

About eight to 10 centennial clocks remain to be put in place during the next six months, Wade said.

That will finish out the program, which will feature 100 centennial clocks placed across the state.

Will they have the clock with the Indians marching forward into disaster after their land was stolen from them?
