He was expected to announce his next step after re-aggravating his throwing shoulder against Texas last weekend.

According to a school spokesman, Bradford still wants to gather more information before making a decision about whether to undergo season-ending surgery.

Hey Matt, enlighten us.

What are all those NFL talent scouts saying AFTER shoulder injury #1? How about after shoulder injury #2?

Ya think they might have changed their tune just a bit since he's going to need surgery to repair the damage? Ya think?

No wonder the majority of you gooner fans are viewed as idiots.

you guys who disagree with all the nfl scouts and experts about bradford's potential in the nfl should make your nfl scouting skills available on the open market. i think you're wasting your talent just doing whatever you do when you could be saving the team that drafts him top 10 next year millions.

Again, I didn't say anything douchy at all. You obviously didn't get the joke. I was only making fun of how douchy the trolls were on the OSU articles. That is why I added the "sounds stupid doesn't it?" line at the end. I was just comparing some stupid statements with another stupid statement. I wasn't "covering up" anything, I was explaining the point of the joke for people who had trouble reading or comprehending it.

BREAKING NEWS:

Sam Bradford quits ou and becomes a walmart greeter.

Jason, Tulsa - Oct 22, 2009 at 1:14 pm
sam make the announcement and get the surgery done. i truly would like too see you back in 2010 in a sooner uniform. coming from ou-johnny you never fullfilled your season from the start with the byu game and injury. if it was me in your cleats i would ask for a hardship rule and make a comeback. alot of ou-haters would love too see you go too the nfl. i would rather you get your education first and also play football in memorial stadium. look at colt at texas he stayed all 4-years, he loves college football and is not greedy for the nfl, show me the money as they say. he knows it will come later, he is having so much fun, so take your time on your decision, up too me i would have the surgery done, you do not look the same when you throw the ball before the second injury. wish you all the best. ou-johnny and family.

I dunno, Scott. AFter looking at most of the lame comments on this article, I think I'll stay right here, and greatly improve the comment section. That's why you have the "ignore" option. Nice try though on censorship.
Sam is history as far as the Sooners. Let him go, let him be.
Boomer, Washington - Oct 22, 2009 at 12:36 pm
I agree protecting children is more important. Try moving over to the protecting children thread and place your opinion there, this one is about Bradford.
scott - Oct 22, 2009 at 11:21 am
Janie, believe it or not, GOOD KIDS attend OU---just like anywhere else. You just don't want to open your eyes to see it. OU is no different than anywhere else, and I get tired of people who think otherwise. Sam is a GREAT kid and he chose OU because he wanted to-he LIKES IT. Bob Stoops is not making his choices--he would never do that.
And, Jolly, the fans did not make Sam's choice to come back. I get so tired of people like you looking for stupid excuses to hurt OU fans. There's a lot of good ones out there. You have no clue. We wanted Sam to do what is BEST FOR HIM !!
Connie, Norman - Oct 22, 2009 at 11:19 am
Paul, Yukon: Yes, something I actually agree with you. What did happen to the article about child abuse in Oklahoma? Geez, look at the most popular stories here on JOKLAHOMAN. More people are interesting in reading about the horse sex case, than Oklahoma's pitiful record when it comes to protecting our most precious asset...our children.
Come on folks, let's re-focus on something that really matters in this state. Forget about OU's lost season for now.
Boomer, Washington - Oct 22, 2009 at 9:54 am
Sam did not release the ball and took a sack on a designed play that let the defender free up. Too bad Sam, get it fixed and come on back next season and I will root you and the rest of the Sooners on! Colt McCoy has always impressed me with his toughness and he should be congratulated for hanging in there. He reminds me of another tough QB named Applewhite and another named Tarkenton.
scott - Oct 22, 2009 at 7:48 am
Travis, don't try and cover up for saying something so rediculously stupid!!! You sure you're not lovers with SMALL PAUL OR CLETUS THE FETUS??? Also don't listen to Jason, he regularly comes on OSU articles and spews hate. I corrected his facts and called him classless once and he started calling me "classless travis" in retaliation. The OU fans who read his trash on OSU articles generally agree with me that it would be better if he was gone.
Travis, OKC - Oct 21, 2009 at 11:18 pm
For a little more clarification, the point was that the things the trolls(Jason, Danny/bff/mongo/osufans=/animal/let's trade) were saying about OSU and Gundy sound as stupid as saying Bradford or OU should be punished for "lying" about having a press conference. I think you missed my 2nd comment, it should have explained this for you.
Travis, OKC - Oct 21, 2009 at 11:13 pm
"Watch who you are calling a troll you no-class idiot!!! If you don't like it in Oklahoma Travis then don't let the door hit you on the way out...But don't come on here and start calling people names...It just shows your ignorance....."

I didn't say anything about not liking Oklahoma and I didn't say anything remotely classless. I wasn't calling people names by saying "trolls", you obviously don't know what the phrase means. I was being sarcastic about all of the douchebags who have been coming on OSU articles saying that Gundy should be fired or that OSU should be sanctioned because they "lied" to the media about why Dez didn't play against Grambling. It should have been obvious that I didn't actually think that Bradford should be kicked off the team or anything like that, that was the joke. Don't just fly off and start calling people idiots when you don't know what they were referring to.
Travis, OKC - Oct 21, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Jim we agree 100%. Colt McCoy probably won't win the Heisman, and may not even be the Big 12 QB of the year, but that kid is one tough competitor and has my utmost respect. Not only did he take the hits, but he changed the tempo of the game in the second half with his feet and then maked that play on Brian Jackson--which if you really think about it...could be the signature play of the Big 12 season when all is said and done--much like the Crabtree play vs. UT last year at Lubbock. I'll be very surprised if OSU beats either Texas or Oklahoma because at the end of the day---both Texas and OU are vastly superior on the defensive side of the football... and defense is what wins championships.

Sam has many options. However, I believe it is time to make Landry Jones the leader of this offense. They keep hanging on to the hope that Sammy will return. I hope he has surgery and comes back for his senior year to prove that he is the best quarterback in the country. Dave, what planet are you from? He will still be very successful in the NFL. I wish Sam Bradford the best. He is not only an outstanding quarterback and leader, but a wonderful young man. He has shown that he is truly an admirable role model.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the striking resemblance to Church Lady borne by Barry Tramel?

How many readers here would love to have a kid who was a millionaire? Sam, bless him, he is a good kid and great QB. But he and his parents had to know the O line was going to the NFL. The current O line is below average. The stats bear that out. Not a grudge, just fact. He has done all he can to help OU. He now needs to help himself and his future family. I would get the surgery, el pronto, and get on with my future. Good luck, Sam.
craig, Oklahoma city - Oct 21, 2009 at 8:52 pm
lmao...take your meds Dave...you sound pathetic.
Jolly, Edmond - Oct 21, 2009 at 8:23 pm
Last year the OU offensive line was so good that Bradford never had to take a hit and therefore we never knew if he could. This year the line is so bad that he has taken several and now we know that he can't. He's finished. Sad but true. Now OU will have to carry another former player that couldn't make it at the next level. Good luck Sam, you deserved better.

Surgery or not, the NFL will see him as damaged goods and he'll never get the big salary, or the limelight.

Guess you can call it a "dumb okie move" by his returning to OU.

El Presidente, I agree 100%. And...I am an OU fan and was at the game. But, what is fair is fair. Sam didn't take a cheap shot. I gained a lot of respect for Colt McCoy. I secretly wanted him to get hurt. Not real proud to admit that but it is true. I will be darned if that kid took some vicious, wicked hits. He would kind of stay down on all fours for a moment and then get up like a prize fighter getting up and being almost knocked out. He has my vote for toughness, thats for sure.

Just wait till tejas, Tech, and OU get through with OSU, then we will listen to the real whiners, just like every year. The excuses will be flying, and everything will be back to normal.
UnSub, Yukon - Oct 21, 2009 at 7:02 pm
The hit on Sam was perfectly clean, as was the hit in the BYU game. Colt McCoy was hit something like 18 times in the game and some of them were brutal. Give me a physical break. Football is a violent collision sport and the notion that Mac Brown should have benched his player is equally absurd. Sam got hit---football players get hit---especially quarterbacks. Good lord...I'm sure when Sam gets to the NFL..Goodell will instruct Ray Lewis and Jared Allen not to hit him hard on that shoulder and to quietly go back to the huddle. Sigh. Jerry from Norman are you an alias for Jenni Carlson?

Sigh.

This is what happens to the local sports IQ when the columnists sugarcoat things.

The hit that Bradford took wasn't a hard hit. Bradford looked like he was falling on a pillow. Like it or not, it wasn't that hard of a hit.

For everybody calling the Texans classless for cheering...I heard OU fans cheering like mad every time the Defensive lineman totally knocked the snot out of Colt McCoy. That kid took several shots many times harder than the hit Sam took. And, to Colt's credit, the kid got up each and every time.

Well I had said all last week that Sam would get hurt again and after Sam went down the Texas player thought it was funny after he threw Sam down on that shoulder I don't know whether the offesive line was not blocking Sam have had a blocker but it seemed like to me that this was set by Texas before the game and they way the Texas player acted after he threw Same down acted like it was so funny I thought that was un called for. Mack Brown should have benched him after the way he acted it was like good I put him out the game for that type of conduct I know if I would have been the coach even for Texas I would have benched him for the rest of the game but that is football for you.

This entire exercise has been a cluster you know what from the get go. This "extra year" is going to cost him a fortune. And...when he is selling shoes at his shoe store or running a barbeque joint, all you noble romantics will forget who the hell Sam Bradford was. Like the coach of the Packers said, "the train has left the station". Life moves on and people forget. Sam knew his offensive line was not going to be good and he came back anyway.

Sam Bradford is a good kid, he thought he was doing the right thing last year by coming back to bulk up before the NFL, He is probably more disappointed in how this year has turned out so far for him. He is a wonderful human being and he is not just trying to get his name in the news. I applaud him for his efforts. This kid has his head on straight which is alot more than I can say about some of you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam gave us a couple of great years. If he doesn't know exactly what he wants to do yet, what is the rush? It's a big decision that could affect the rest of his life. It's his decision and nobody else's. Give him the respect that he has shown that he deserves!
