I hope history repeats. Every time the defense had been given little chance of stopping the opposition they have played great. I was worried about the Texas Tech game and stopping Harrell and Crabtree. OU 65 TTU 21. I was worried about the OSU game and stopping Henderson and Bryant. OU 61 OSU 41. I was worried but not as much about the Missouri game. OU 62 Mizzou 21. I am worried about the Florida game. The defense must play like they did against TTU and Missouri. If they play like the OSU game then the offense cannot afford any three and outs. What I really hope is that the Sooners come to play a full 60 minutes of lights out football. If they do that they should do okay.
William, Fairfield - Jan 8, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Well, it's finally come to this. With all the negatives being thrown around and all the Big 12 and OU putdowns, it seems that Oklahoma needs this one a little more. I think they 're up to it. Boomer Sooner!!! #8 can be ours by the end of the night.

Hey Bobby, if you couldn't make it into the NFL on 2 good knees, what makes you think you have the right to bag on White not being able to do it on 2 reconstructed knees?

Cant wait to watch OU get beat down tonight! I wonder what kind of lame reasons all the OU fans will come up with tomorrow for losing?? OU will choke just like they have in the last 4 post season games.
Bobby, Oklahoma City - Jan 8, 2009 at 10:42 am
I remember I was in Vietnam when Nebraska played OU in the game of the century - 1971. I was so disappointed OU lost that game. Let's win one for our troops fighting overseas. I guess Florida has troops over there, too, but, I think this will be the highlight of our troops week. Come on guys, give them a good show tonight. They all deserve it. You're fighting off blockers and tacklers, they're fighting off people shooting at them!

I agree Brad. The d has been belittled and disrespected (some of it deserved). I just hope it is a controlled fury. Got to stay smart, play with intensity and as my Platoon commander used to say, fight like lions. To the man who posted he was a soldier, hope you guys get to see the game, but whatever you are doing "over there" is more important. Thanks for your service and courage.

Has anyone heard of St. Lucius, the patron saint of OU football? Lately, I feel the people of OU have backslidden, and not paid proper hommage to St. Lucius. OU, as a team, is not the OUtrageous OUtlaws of Barry Switzer's day. They're more the cOUrteous and cOUrageous gentlemen of Sam Bradford and Bob Stoops. If fans will go back to their patron saint and dedicate the next few months to be more like the new OU and less like the old, then the Patron Saint might smile on them tonight and a win might be on the offering. It all depends upon the sincerity of the fans!

Victory will depend on our defense. I hope we have a chip on your shoulder, that "us against the world" mentality. It's only when our D has been called out that they respond with heart.

OU will win by 10 to 14 points and bring #8 back to Norman. Bradford willl be great and the defense will be awesome.

Thanks Loumar for supporting OU, I know for a fact many Sooner fans watched and pulled for Mike Stoops and the Arizona Wildcats to win this year.

BOOMER SOONER!!!!

Kevin is exactly right. Someone should have asked Meyer how Chris Leak's NFL career was going. I mean wasn't he his STARTING QB on his National Championship team 2 years ago?

My coach would say this prior to every game and it has stuck with me for 15 years. We also went undefeated my 3 years on varsity so maybe it had an impact.... GO SOONERS!!!!

On this day of football,
We look upon ourselves,
Think of those whom we love,
And know that which we play for.

God, grant us victory,
As we come to battle...
We fight to win.

Caught that too, Kevin. Surprised that they don't opt to leave the NCAA and petition for a spot in the league. Funny too how the gayturds have 10 guys that run 4.3 or better in the 40 while the NFL has only a half dozen across all teams. Definitely reminding me of 2000...

“If you notice, the NFL is not much different from the SEC, with all due respect,” Meyer said. “If you’re a player and start in the SEC, you’re going to the NFL, that’s just the way it is.” that was a quote from florida coach Urban Meyer. If that doesn't show you how out of touch SEC coaches and fans are then nothing will. Please tell me he didnt say there isnt much difference in the NFL and the SEC. If you didnt know better you would think Florida hasnt lost a game in 10 years listening to all the bias reporting going on this week.

kevin, commerce - Jan 8, 2009 at 6:10 am
UofA Wildcat here. Beat up Florida, Sooners. Shut em down and shut em up! I fully expect Bradford to pick apart their secondary and the Sooner defense to play its best game of the year and prove to the football world and all the naysayers that Big 12 teams can defend against anybody including even the supposedly best offense which Florida thinks it has. Brothers Mike and Mark Stoops will be watching and pulling for you Sooners to SHUTOUT Florida, and so does all of the University of Arizona Wildcats football nation.
Loumar, Phoenix - Jan 8, 2009 at 3:10 am

The Oklahoman's coverage of this game is so thin as to be embarrassing. It's sad to see that the New York Times is blowing the Oklahoman away on stories about the OU Sooners football team. What a sad state for this paper. The layoffs are evident, or the sports staff is just lazy, shallow and unimaginative.
