But that’s not going to make him want to coach into his 70s, like Penn State’s Joe Paterno or Florida State’s Bobby Bowden.

"I don’t need it,” Stoops said Wednesday is his final press conference before his Sooners take on Florida in Dolphin Stadium. "I love what I do, I mean I absolutely love it. It’s exciting, it’s everything you want. You know you’re alive every day. But there’s a lot of other things to me that, outside of this game, I want to do, and a lot of it even just time with family.”

Stoops, 48, is about to complete his 10th season as the Sooners’ head coach.

So, if he doesn’t coach, what else might Stoops want to do?

"Geez, travel, golf, a little more whatever,” he said. "Again, I just know you value your time, and a lot of times you want it to be your time, and what you decide to do, when you do it.”

Stoops, however, said he’s still a long ways away from retirement.

"I’m nowhere close to that,” he said. "Again, I love what I’m doing, but I know I won’t be doing it when I’m in my 70s. I don’t know if I’ll make it to 60.”

Florida coach Urban Meyer, 44, said Wednesday he wouldn’t coach into his 70s, either.

"The wear and tear on coaching, I imagine it’s like it’s never been with recruiting 24/7, 12 months a year,” Meyer said. "It’s a tough lifestyle.

"There will be no chance I’ll be doing this in my 70s.”

Urban translates into another National Championship. I guess that is what kind of a name it is. Bob means something completly different.

I'd like to see the boys give Urban a stroke tonight and shorten his coaching days even more. And what the hell kind of name is "Urban" anyway?

Stoops is welcome to stick around as long as he wants, just make sure that Josh Heupel is around to take over when he leaves!
