The Heisman Trophy will be awarded tonight in New York City. Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is not only a finalist but a favorite. Enough said.

Jenni Carlson: You’ve been to New York before. This trip is a little different.
Sam Bradford: I think probably the coolest thing is getting to go to the Downtown Athletic Club and go to the Heisman presentation. It’s something that you dream about as a kid. To actually get to do it, it’s going to be a fun experience.
JC: I suspect all the former OU winners are going to be at the ceremony. Any of them made contact with you?
SB: I haven’t really talked to any of those guys, but hopefully ... I’ll get to talk to them a little bit about it.
JC: Is there any way to know what to expect from this whole experience?
SB: I don’t think so. I talked to coach (Josh) Heupel a little bit about it earlier in the week. The main thing he told me is enjoy every minute of it and have as much fun as you possibly can with it. I’m just going to go up there and just try to have as much fun and meet as many new people as I can.
JC: Heisman winners are members of an elite club. Have you thought what it would be like to join that fraternity?
SB: A little bit, and I really don’t think I can even comprehend what it would mean to actually win the award and be placed in such a prestigious group of players.
JC: Was there a point that you realized that winning this might be possible?
SB: I’d say no. During the season, we have so much going on. The last thing that you’re focused about is awards at the end of the season. You’re concentrating on who you’ve got to play Saturday. I really haven’t put a whole lot of thought into actually winning the award, but I think probably the closer it comes, the more I might think about it.
JC: Has any of this affected your life away from the football field?
SB: I would definitely say that the more that we’ve been in the spotlight, the more that we’ve played in big games recently, the more that people have recognized me when I go out to eat and stuff. That’s probably it. I wouldn’t say anything else has really changed.
JC: More friends of Facebook?
SB: I don’t even pay attention to that anymore.
JC: Like you have time for that.
SB: Yeah.
