Quotes about Sam Bradford from national media

"All he did was set an NCAA freshman record with 36 touchdown tosses and lead the nation in passing efficiency. Not bad, rook, but whatcha got for an encore? How about throwing for the most touchdowns in the country, 48, with the third-most passing yards ... and a measly six interceptions. ... All of which amounts to a sophomore slump like Robert Byrd is a junior senator.”

"Before Missouri and Oklahoma had taken the field Saturday night, CBS had all but canonized Tebow and anointed him worthy of becoming the second two-time Heisman Trophy winner.

Then Bradford did his bit.

Let’s compare the numbers: Tebow completed 14 of 22 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns.

Bradford was 22-of-31 for 240 yards and two touchdowns ... in the first half.”

Chuck Carlton, Dallas Morning News

"Even Tom Brady would envy QB Sam Bradford’s 48-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.”

Who deserves it more than Bradford? Tebow? his number are not as good, and he has not done as well as the year he already won the Heisman. He is a dual threat, a good leader, and a likely candidate for the NFL. McCoy, is a great leader, had some impressive numbers, but likely will not make the NFL and does not posses a deep ball threat. Bradford can throw from the pocket, screens, first downs and the long ball. He has average receivers compared to other schools. He can scramble, and makes good choices under pressure unlike McCoy. Bradford has record setting statistics to back it all up. While it may be possible not to give it to Bradford - it is not probable. Bradford should win it and then move on to the NFL - where he will become a star.

McCoy won't win it; they manage to spread the wealth around, or so it seems. He won that thing last night, whatever it was, so Sam gains an edge in the Heisman race.

Hey Mike from OKC, are you a Damn speech writer bro? That's exactly the type of speech I see Bradford giving when he wins the Heisman..Nice job

Someone commented during the Alabama-Florida game that Tebow would love to play against the Big 12 defenses and show what he can do. Those were the commentators words, not Tebow's. But, he may not get the royal treatment he thinks he must deserve from OU, as they shook up many of the opposing quarterbacks they faced, and I'll bet they can get to Tebow too. But I do think Bradford will win it. I don't think he can be denied for the number of touchdowns he threw this year, and running in a couple more. You can't turn away from that and say, "oh they backed into the championship." Well, that's irrelevant to the best collegiate football player in America. Bradford is that. Tebow, Harrell, Cody, and the rest are just a rung below. I'm an OSU fan, but those kind of numbers don't just speak, they shout at you.

Sam wont get the trophy as a payback for backing into the Big 12 championship, from all the media hate mongors who think the SEC is so great.

Im not biased :)

Bradford will win the Heisman this year. But what I would tell him to say at his acceptance speech would be this: "How can this really be mine? In a way it's not. It belongs to all those offensive linemen who sacrificed their bodies with bloody knuckles and bruised feet and legs, on every single down I played, protecting me, giving me time to throw the ball. Parts of it go to my runningbacks, who kept defenses honest and allowed the passing game to thrive. Part of it goes to my receivers, who had to make the catches so the completion could be made. Some of it goes to the reserves on the OU football squad - who practiced against us, who never got any honor or glory whatsoever, but who made us a better team. And, some of it must go to all the coaches who taught me correct techniques, how to scramble, and a million other little things to make me a more complete quarterback. I'm just the culmination of a thousand thousand hours of work by hundreds of people. I'm humble by the honor, but I know my position today didn't come without many others sacrificing time and effort, and a little blood, sweat and tears."

Tebow has the complete and full backing of the SEC network - CBS. Colt has the majority of the talking heads support at ESPN. And of course, Colt will get the Texas and sympathy vote. We shall see...

If the voters do a little research, they will see that Sam's stats are by far the best and his team is #1 in the BCS - it's a no-brainer he should win.

www.stiffarmtrophy.com has predicted the winner every year since its design. This year it is projecting Bradford. It is by far the most complete polling site with over 150 official votes counted. CBSSPORTS, which is predicting Tebow, only used 32 official voters with ties to CBS and the SEC so go figure. The Oklahoman straw poll was pretty diverse by polling voters from each region equally. ESPN also only used voters with ties to ESPN and ABC. What is funny is that it looks like there is a civil war going on over at ESPN over Tebow supporters and McCoy supporters. If a Tebow guy voted him #1 then he usually put McCoy at #3 and vise versa. Bradford is dominating the second place votes and Tebow isn't leading by much in the 1st place votes. Unless Tebow just dominates the 1st place votes it doesn't look like he is going to have enough points to catch Bradford.

I hope Sam doesn't got to the NFL, but looks like the stars are really aligned for that to happen. If that is the case, we'll really have to relish enjoying watching him on January 8 in his last game wearing Sooner crimson.

If there has to be a choice, I'd rather see the Sooners win the BCS Championship versus Bradford taking home the Heisman, and Bradford feels the same way. BUT, there does not have to be a choice, so I hope Bradford wins the Trophy and the Sooners take home the Crystal Ball. And, for the cherry on the sundae, I want Bradford to develop into a top-notch, Super Bowl winning NFL QB. But, who knows?
CECIL, Encinitas - Dec 12, 2008 at 9:00 am
I sure hope BRADFORD wins the HEISMAN!!! I think Bradford will win and WILL WIN the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game also. Just to show people what he and OU are really all about. Nothing against the others, but as an OU fan I have the FAITH we can do it!!! GO SOONERS
Randy, Uvalde - Dec 12, 2008 at 8:39 am
It's all about the East Coast bias.....it's Tebow's(I hope I'm wrong). That's OK though, the Heisman may be out of Bradford's control, but the National Championship Trophy is not!

Boomer Sooner Baby!!

Won't make a difference what the media says, Sam won't win it.

If they don't give that trophy to Sam, then there is no justice.
