An Oklahoma player has been drafted.

Finally.

The Atlanta Falcons selected former Sooner linebacker Curtis Lofton with the 37th overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Lofton was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year last season, prompting him to skip his senior season and declare for the draft.

Even though former OU wide receiver Malcolm Kelly and defensive back Reggie Smith were considered by many analysts as better pro prospects, Lofton is the first Sooner to be taken in the draft.

Brian,

Do you have this "comment" saved somewhere so you can roll it out year after year? Team on the rise....most powerful offense in the universe....blah blah blah...I guess that is how Booger-Pickens keeps you saps buying tickets every year. lOSUr will finish second to last in the South this year and will end up losing to whatever version of Troy is on their schedule.

OSU should be a lock or, at least be a favorite for the big12 south this year.No way O-who will even come close to winning the south since, the Gooners have lost alot of there talent in the draft and,due to graduation so,we should take them out at Boon pickens stadium no problem.....I think Texass will be our biggest challenge so,I give my pokes a 50/50 shot on winning in austin....Zac Robinson and,Dez Bryant are going to own all big12 defenses this year.Plus,,Our defense will be be much improved with all the redshirts and,the top quality depth coming in from the JUCO ranks ...Buy your tickets now Pokes fans,we will be in KC for the BIG12 CG....Go Pokes,Big 12 champs 2008

Great to see a Sooner finally come here to ATL. But the Falcons are still gonna suck. How the hell u gonna pick Matt Ryan #3 ?! He's not a franchise QB. We have no O-Line or D-Line and mediocre WR's. Just shows that Vick was a 1 man team. We cOUldve gotten Dorsey (or even better, McFadden) and a better O-Linemen than we got. Other than Lofton (whom many say is slow) I give the Falcons a D- in the draft, but I hope they prove me wrong.

Scott you must be the moron, and I agree with David, he is correct in thinking about the real moron MK. and since you still think MK is so great, he was #52 and I predict he will be slinging burgers or selling sterios before it is all over with. He, MK, is not NFL material!
