Emperor's visit to school planted seeds of an alliance with African country

STILLWATER — When the "King of Kings” visited Oklahoma State University on June 18, 1954, officials rolled out the red carpet, offering a campus tour in a new Buick convertible and hosting an elaborate black-tie banquet.

But this king was no rock star — he was monarch of Ethiopia , a country that had begun to forge a decades-long alliance with OSU.
