Adrian Peterson could have a plate inserted into his collarbone to aid its healing, but the Vikings expect him to be ready for training camp and next weekend's rookie minicamp.

According to a report in the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press, the team will determine whether a plate is needed to stabilize his collarbone, which Peterson reinjured in the Fiesta Bowl. He could miss about six weeks if he had the plate inserted.

"The situation is that my collarbone is healing and it's not going to hold me back from anything,” Peterson told the newspaper Sunday.
