Stoops: Check back for decision on QBs
Not only is there no official pecking order at quarterback, OU coaches say it may take a while before a starter is named.

Bob Stoops said a decision between Sam Bradford, Joey Halzle and Keith Nichol won't be made until one of the three has clearly seized the job. One thing working in the coaches' favor is a recent history of intense competitions.

"I would guess it would be sometime in August,” Stoops said after Saturday's Red-White scrimmage. "When I feel a guy has earned it, we'll say so. I think if you go through eight years here, we have named 'em all at different times.

"I mean it when I say (when) a guy has earned it, we'll say so. This isn't new territory for us. We've had four Big 12 championships with four different quarterbacks. So we're used to this. Hopefully we'll get back to another one with a different quarterback.”

Hands off: OU receivers didn't offer their QBs much help early in Saturday's Red-White game, dropping five passes by halftime.

It did get better, yet the missed opportunities had already stamped a negative on the afternoon.

"Anytime you're a receiver and you go out there and you drop a ball, it's kind of tough, because that's what you do,” said wideout Juaquin Iglesias. "Everybody counts on you to catch the ball.”
