NORMAN — Reports surfaced Monday morning that Norman High standout Ryan Broyles had decommitted from Oklahoma State and orally committed to OU. Various recruiting services reported the four-star defensive back had informed the OU coaching staff, as well as OSU receivers coach Gunter Brewer, that he was accepting an offer to join the Sooners.

Norman coach Butch Peters confirmed the report Monday afternoon, adding the four-star prospect was going use the day to "let things sink and settle in.”
As of late Monday, however, Broyles' father Edward Moore denied his son had committed to the Sooners, but instead was simply thinking over his future.
"Well the fact is he's not really sure right now,” Moore told Rivals.com. "That's not true (that he has switched commitments). He doesn't know what he wants to do.”
Now, it seems the only one who knows where Broyles will end up is Broyles himself. And he's not talking.
"He took his official visit to Stillwater this weekend and said he had a great time,” Peters said. "Both he and his parents said they really liked the town and the school. I think OU just came back into the picture late (Sunday) night or (Monday) morning.”
Just two weeks ago, Broyles spurned a late scholarship offer from Oklahoma running backs coach Cale Gundy.
Broyles originally committed to Oklahoma State on Jan. 14, after a four-month courtship with Brewer and the Cowboys. When he made the decision, it wasn't that Broyles didn't want to play at Oklahoma. He rooted for the Sooners throughout his childhood and played his high school ball just down the street from OU's campus.
He even garnered attention from the Sooner coaching staff. But Broyles never received an offer.
Until he picked the Cowboys.
Just hours after announcing his commitment to OSU, Broyles got a call from Cale Gundy. He wanted to know why Broyles had chosen OSU. Gundy offered him a scholarship. Broyles politely declined.
Later that day, he told Rivals.com, "I guess it shows they've been slow-playing me. That definitely hurts them. I wanted to go to Oklahoma, but when schools started calling me and OU didn't pay much attention to me, I moved on. I did what I had to do.”
So, why the potential switch now?
Could be Broyles' loyalty to the program he watched growing up. Could be the attention he's gotten since picking the Sooners' Bedlam rival.
Even his high school coach was stumped.
"I asked him about his commitment today and he said he's trying to get away from the phones and go through some stuff,” Peters said. "He told me he needed to wait until tomorrow.”
