Former Oklahoma State coach Pat Jones is confident Adrian Peterson will be the first running back selected in this year's draft, but that hardly means he'll be the first player selected. Jones spent two seasons as an Oakland assistant, and the Raiders won the top pick.

"I'll be surprised if they don't get totally enamored with (LSU quarterback) JaMarcus Russell,” Jones said. "That's just my personal opinion.”
Might the Raiders trade down?
"They're not prone to give away that pick,” Jones said.
In addition to the draft, there also is the free-agent market. Teams needing help at other positions might be able to fill a void through free agency, which could also affect when and where Peterson is selected.
But in a year when quarterbacks are in demand, the pickings are slim — both on the draft boards and in free agency.
Philadelphia's Jeff Garcia is the top free agent, and he'll be a backup next season if he decides to stay with the Eagles.
This year's top players who are scheduled to become free-agent quarterbacks:
• Jeff Garcia (Philadelphia)
• Damon Huard (Kansas City)
• Tim Rattay (Tampa Bay)
• Matt Schaub (Atlanta)
• John Navarre (Arizona)
• Anthony Wright (Cincinnati)
