Oklahoma's defense had done its job through much of the game, only to be betrayed by a bumbling offense. But when it mattered most, at the end of the fourth quarter and in overtime, the defense failed to come up with a stop.
The Sooners trailed 28-10 until late in the third quarter, yet found a way to get back in the game and even go ahead. They lost in the end, but showed something by rallying back on a night when many things went wrong.
2007 poll position
The Sooners return 18 starters and 39 players off the two-deep, reason for optimism next fall. But the loss to Boise State, coupled with a question mark at quarterback, will likely result in a low ranking to start 2007.
