"We just got to see how he feels Wednesday and Thursday," Scott said. "But I really don't see the point in him trying to play (tonight)."
Stojakovic originally injured his back last Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team listed his injury as back spasms and he did not travel with the team to Dallas the next night, missing his first game of the season. For the second straight day Monday, Stojakovic did not practice with the team while nursing his injury.
"With the treatment and the stretching and the ice, sometimes they go away in a couple of days, sometimes they take a week," Scott said of back spasms. "So we just have to keep our fingers crossed that it's going to be a little bit less than that."
• West out tonight: Forward David West was hoping to return to the lineup tonight. That won't be the case. West is expected to miss his eighth straight game because of an injured right elbow.
"David's still pretty the same," Scott said. "He's getting better each day."
West, the team's third-leading scorer with 17.4 points per game and second-leading rebounder at 8.3 per game, hasn't played since Nov. 12 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
• Lineup shuffle: With Stojakovic expected to miss his second straight game tonight, Rasual Butler will replace Bobby Jackson as the starter at shooting guard.
Scott said he prefers to keep Jackson, the team's fourth leading scorer, coming off the bench, especially since the team's reserves were largely ineffective in the two games that Jackson started this season.
"I think that's something that he's really familiar with and he's really comfortable with," Scott said of Jackson. "We need that spark plug again off the bench. Jannero (Pargo) has done great the last two games, but we need more than one. Right now, when you've got two guys who average (a combined) 35, 36 points missing, you need three or four guys to step up."
• Jackson still struggling: Marc Jackson said he is still not comfortable on the court after missing the entire preseason and first nine regular season games due to multiple hamstring injures. In five games, Jackson is averaging 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 17.2 minutes per game. He's shooting just 31.8 percent.
"I'm struggling," Jackson said. "My game is showing it. We haven't had much practice time, and I've been trying to get my conditioning and my rhythm back through the games. So it's taken a little longer than I expected. But I'm a basketball player, so I've got to get myself in better conditioning to have better performances."
• Did you know?: Guard Chris Paul recorded his first career triple-double against the Toronto Raptors on April 2 last season. Paul finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in the Hornets' 120-113 double-overtime road win.
