Why OSU could win

1. PROLIFIC OFFENSE
The Cowboys' balanced offense is capable of producing big plays on the ground or through the air. Ranked among the national scoring leaders, OSU's offense has had success against every defense it has faced other than Texas. With three big-play receiving threats (receivers Adarius Bowman, D'Juan Woods and tight end Brandon Pettigrew) and two big-play running backs (Dantrell Savage and Keith Toston) OSU has potential to outscore any team.

2. BOONE PICKENS STADIUM
This isn't Kyle Field, but OSU has fared well at home in recent years. During the past five seasons, including this year, the Cowboys are 20-5 at home when they've had a bowl-eligible team.

Because of a bowled-in-like configuration, despite the west end zone being open, Boone Pickens Stadium can get loud. The stadium is its rowdiest when the Sooners come to town.

3. BOBBY REID
The sophomore quarterback has been ranked among the national leaders in passing efficiency all season. Reid is capable of burning a defense with his legs or arm. Reid has thrown for more than 2,000 yards and has rushed for more than 400 yards. OSU has added a few more option plays to the game plan each week. As a result, defensive backs must be concerned covering both the option and wide receivers.

4. PLAYBOOK MAGIC
OSU coaches sometimes find a set of plays or scheme that's effective against the Sooners.

In a 16-13 upset win in Norman, OSU coaches were convinced their defensive line could dominate. The Cowboys recorded seven sacks and held OU to zero yards rushing. The following year, coaches believed the Sooners were vulnerable to the deep pass. Rashaun Woods had a huge day.

5. RETURN GAME
The Cowboys have led or been near the top of the national rankings in kickoff returns and have been ranked in the top 10 in punt returns all season.

True freshman Perrish Cox can turn the momentum with big returns, and Grant Jones leads the nation in kickoff returns.
