Baylor at a glance

Bad news, Bears
When senior quarterback Shawn Bell was lost for the season on Oct. 28, Baylor seemingly returned to the Bears of old — Big 12 South doormat.

Without Bell, the Bears have had back-to-back losses of 34 and 42 points.

The rookie
Redshirt freshman quarterback Blake Szymanski hasn't been as efficient as Bell was. He's been intercepted four times and sacked eight in the last two games.

Tougher schedule
Baylor could easily be bowl-eligible this season, but coach Guy Morriss chose to play a more difficult non-conference schedule than in years past.

The Bears suffered narrow defeats to TCU, Washington State and Army.

Had Morriss instead dropped in a couple of games against the likes of SMU, Texas State, Samford, North Texas or Sam Houston State — all teams the Bears have played in the last three years — they still might have achieved bowl eligibility.

Last game
The Bears fell to 4-7 with a 66-24 loss at Oklahoma State.
