Ball security was a bit of an issue for the Sooners on Saturday. Here, OU’s Jacob Gutierrez coughs it up on a hit by Texas Tech’s Antonio Huffman. BY NATE BILLINGS, THE OKLAHOMAN
The Oklahoma air attack is back, and in a big way. A week after completing just 3 of 12 passes, Paul Thompson picked apart the Texas Tech secondary and posted his best outing of the season, throwing for 309 yards and two scores. Malcolm Kelly, who complained this week about his lack of touches, caught a season-high 11 passes for 153 yards and a TD. Manuel Johnson also had a career night, before leaving during the fourth quarter with a neck injury. The Sooners hardly missed Adrian Peterson or Allen Patrick, surprising the crowd by playing Texas Tech football better than the Red Raiders themselves.
