Sooners running back Allen Patrick said his comfort level improved along with his production from his first start against Colorado to last week’s game at Missouri.

“My first week, I was just coming out trying to get some yards, running downhill,” Patrick said. “The second game, I tried to slow it down a little bit, read the holes… but I’m still trying to run downhill at the same time. That’s my style, running downhill.”
Patrick showed better vision and cutting ability, but he said he saw some missed opportunities on tape.
“I saw a few where I could have shaken for a touchdown,” Patrick said. “But it’s coming.”
Catching on: Patience paid off for OU wideout Quentin Chaney, who made the most of increased playing time against Missouri with his first career catch and touchdown.
Sooners offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson credited Chaney’s work ethic in practice for getting him on the field. Wilson said he hoped Chaney would serve as an example for other backups.
“It’s as hard as you want it to be,” Chaney said. “If you go out there and work and work, things will come. If you just go through the motions and don’t work hard, it’s going to be tough on game day. Sometimes, it’s better to wait for things. I was wanting to push myself and get on the field early. But coach had something else in mind. So I waited. And waited. The time came and I made the opportunity and made the play.”
Say what? Aggies running back Michael Goodson, a true freshman from Houston, considered OU and was committed to Oklahoma State before a late recruiting switch to A&M.
Preparing to face the Sooners, Goodson made much of Saturday’s meeting.
“This is the biggest game I’ve ever played in my life,” Goodson said. “I took an official (visit) to Oklahoma and met with coach (Bob) Stoops.
“I liked it, but it’s kind of boring in Oklahoma.”
