With Adrian Peterson out until season's end with a broken collarbone, the Sooners entered Saturday suggesting they might work their running game by committee. Allen Patrick headed the committee, getting 35 carries.

The running back breakdown:

Allen Patrick: The junior started and was clearly the main man, totaling more carries than Peterson in any game this year. He ran tough, secured the football, and produced 110 yards for a 3.1 average per carry. Not great, yet a promising start on many fronts.

Jacob Gutierrez: Another junior, Gutierrez carried five times for 18 yards. Because of his size, his role will be determined by enemy defenses. While not a factor Saturday night, he could also be more of a feature for the passing game.

Chris Brown: The true freshman from Alexandria, La., got the call over fellow freshman Mossis Madu due to a strong week of practice. Brown made an impression running on a late drive, gaining 12 yards on four carries, the final one a powerful 4-yard scoring run off tackle.
