Belk gets in holiday spirit

It's beginning to look like Christmas with holiday decorations at Belk Department Store in Stillwater.

Charlotte, N.C.-based department store chain Belk Inc. recently opened a store in Stillwater. The 315-chain store's locations are mainly in the southeastern parts of the country. It's the largest privately owned department store in the United States.

Belk offers large national brands that have somewhat limited distribution, including the Estee Lauder makeup line.

In its last earnings report, the company said net income for the second quarter increased 59.9 percent to $23.6 million, compared with $17.2 million for the same period last year.

Belk already has a store in Owasso.
